Hari Raya 2025 School Holidays in Malaysia: Plan Your Festivities! 🎉

Great news for students, parents, and teachers! The Ministry of Education Malaysia (KPM) has officially announced additional school holidays for Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2025 as part of the academic calendar for the 2025/2026 session.

🗓️ Holiday Dates & School Groupings

Hari Raya Aidilfitri falls on Monday, 31st March 2025, and Tuesday, 1st April 2025. To allow families to celebrate and travel comfortably, the government has allocated three (3) extra school holidays for both school groups:

📍 Group A Schools

(Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu – Friday & Saturday weekend)

  • Friday, 28th March 2025 (Regular Weekend)

  • Saturday, 29th March 2025 (Regular Weekend)

  • Sunday, 30th March 2025 (Extra Holiday)

  • Monday, 31st March 2025 (Hari Raya Aidilfitri)

  • Tuesday, 1st April 2025 (Hari Raya Aidilfitri)

  • Wednesday, 2nd April 2025 (Extra Holiday)

  • Thursday, 3rd April 2025 (Extra Holiday)

  • Friday, 4th April 2025 (Regular Weekend)

  • Saturday, 5th April 2025 (Regular Weekend)

Total holiday period: 9 days (from 28th March to 5th April 2025).

📍 Group B Schools

(Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Pulau Pinang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan & Putrajaya – Saturday & Sunday weekend)

Important Update: Johor has officially changed its weekend to Saturday and Sunday starting 1st January 2025. This means Johor schools will now follow Group B's holiday schedule instead of Group A.

  • Saturday, 29th March 2025 (Regular Weekend)

  • Sunday, 30th March 2025 (Regular Weekend)

  • Monday, 31st March 2025 (Hari Raya Aidilfitri)

  • Tuesday, 1st April 2025 (Hari Raya Aidilfitri)

  • Wednesday, 2nd April 2025 (Extra Holiday)

  • Thursday, 3rd April 2025 (Extra Holiday)

  • Friday, 4th April 2025 (Extra Holiday)

  • Saturday, 5th April 2025 (Regular Weekend)

  • Sunday, 6th April 2025 (Regular Weekend)

Total holiday period: 9 days (from 29th March to 6th April 2025).

What This Means for You

With these confirmed holidays, students in Group A will have a break from Friday, 28th March, until Saturday, 5th April, while those in Group B (including Johor) will be off from Saturday, 29th March, until Sunday, 6th April.

✈️ Plan Your Balik Kampung Early!

With these dates in mind, now is the perfect time to: Book travel tickets in advance to avoid price hikes and last-minute rushes. Prepare for festive shopping – get your baju raya, kuih-muih, and gifts early! Organize family gatherings and open houses without worrying about school schedules.
